Burt soon discovers that a team of scientists has accidentally unearthed prehistoric Graboids and Ass-Blasters from the thawing arctic tundra. The situation becomes a race against time when Burt is infected with Graboid venom and has only 48 hours to live. To save his life, the group must capture a live Graboid and extract a sample of its internal venom sac to create an antidote.
