While acting as a jury member for a beauty contest, Totò falls madly in love with a beautiful contestant named Doriana. To gracefully reject his marriage proposal, she jokingly claims she will only marry him if he wins the grueling Giro d'Italia (Tour of Italy) bicycle race.

Desperate and unable to ride a bicycle, Totò proclaims that he would sell his soul to the devil to win. A demon promptly appears and grants him incredible athletic ability in exchange for his soul after the race concludes.
