The story follows David (Clooney) and Georgia (Roberts), a long-divorced couple who can barely stand to be in the same room. Their mutual hostility is put on hold when their daughter, Lily (Kaitlyn Dever), travels to Bali after her college graduation and impulsively decides to marry Gede (Maxime Bouttier), a local seaweed farmer she just met.
