The film follows Jake Atherton (Ryan Kwanten), a former Marine who has traded his uniform for a quiet life as a mechanic with his family. His peace is shattered when local gangsters murder his wife and son in retaliation for a debt. Jake’s brutal vengeance lands him in prison, but he doesn't stay there long.
He is soon recruited by Sam Ramsey (Dermot Mulroney) to join a top-secret, "off-the-books" government agency called Section 8. As Jake carries out increasingly questionable assignments, including a hit on a senator, he realizes that Section 8 isn't what it seems and that he’s become a pawn in a much deeper conspiracy.
