The film follows (Michael Jai White) of the Deacon City Police Department as he interrogates a shadowy prisoner, Hanzo Hasashi (Ian Anthony Dale). Jax explains that the city is being terrorized by a wave of bizarre serial killers and criminals working for a mysterious figure named Shang Tsung . Jax presents evidence of two primary threats:

The person Hasashi previously killed was actually Sub-Zero’s older brother, meaning his vengeance is incomplete. Fueled by this revelation, Hasashi agrees to the mission and requests to be called as he prepares to enter the tournament.
