The story follows , a struggling taxi driver who receives an urgent call from his younger brother, Tae-min , a gambling addict. Tae-min has pawned his car—the titular "Thunderbird"—but claims it contains a large bag of cash won from a casino. Joined by Tae-min's girlfriend, Mi-young , the trio embarks on an increasingly dangerous and anxiety-inducing journey across one night in the town of Jeongseon to recover the vehicle. As the night progresses, their plans unravel through a series of bad decisions, shifting loyalties, and pressure from debt collectors.
