Saint Parascheva was an 11th-century ascetic born in Epivates, near Constantinople. Her relics undertook a long journey through Bulgaria and Serbia before being gifted to Prince Vasile Lupu in 1641. They were brought to Iași as a gesture of gratitude from the Ecumenical Patriarchate for the prince's financial support.
